How to Make (New) History in Washington D.C.
If you read my blog regularly, then an audio interview is way out of your comfort zone, but rest assured, it's out of my comfort zone as well.
My younger sister Katie is a senior in high school, and she just got back from her senior trip in Washington D.C. (If you don't know what a "senior trip" is, it's just what it sounds like: a trip that the senior class takes, chaperoned by a few very brave teachers and sponsored--at least in part--by the school.)
For this interview, Katie and I nestled into my Nana's spare bedroom (it was convenient, we were already at my Nana's house), where, beneath the soft yellow light of the mini chandelier and the baby blue walls lined with family photos, we ended up getting into some topics much deeper (and broader) than D.C. itself...
That said, after we finished recording, Katie went wide-eyed and demanded that I tell everyone to visit D.C.'s Vietnam War Memorial. "Like, if you don't see anything else," she said, "see that. It made me cry."
You heard it here first, folks.
Without further ado, enjoy my first-ever interview:
